Peyton’s Story

On May 25th, 2017, Charity Air Ambulance had the pleasure of funding a flight for 9-month-old Peyton.  Peyton has Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1, which has made her short life difficult due to complications.  A specialist at University Hospital in Newark, NJ specializes in children with pulmonary and neuromuscular diseases and Peyton was in need of specialized assistance in weaning from the ventilator she has been dependent on.  Unfortunately, Peyton’s insurance refused to cover an air ambulance transport, which is the only safe way for Peyton to travel from her home in Tennessee to New Jersey while ventilated.  We stepped in and made sure Peyton made it to the specialist where she has been doing very well in receiving treatment.  Now that Peyton’s family doesn’t have to worry about the hassle of fighting with their insurance company, they can focus on what is most important: their daughter’s health.
